Swim Meets Rules and Policies
Swim Meets are meant to be a fun way to engage kids in learning about how their hard work at practice pays off. Swim Meets are not all about winning a race or a heat. Yes it is fun when they win; however, there should not be so much emphasis placed on winning. Swimming is a sport in which you are racing yourself and the clock - your swimmer's times and stroke improvements are the primary emphasis.
Be aware that every kid needs to swim every stroke offered for their age group in order to be eligible for the championship and all star meets. The reason for this is because it is good to get kids out of their comfort zone and try new things! And you never know, they might be one of the fastest swimmers in a stroke they have never competed in before!
You will be able to sign up for swim meets on our Swimtopia site. Even if you can not attend, it is important that you go through the sign up process and select "not attending." Anyone who has not responded will be entered into the meet so it will help make the meet run smoother and help the coaches with putting together the relays if we know for sure who will be there and who will not. You will be able to make suggestions on what your kids will be swimming, but keep in mind that the coaches ultimately have the final say. Please be supportive of this and encourage your kids to swim whatever events they are entered in.
